In my coaching practice, many clients are exploring what work really means to them. As they venture back into physical workspaces and face shifts in work priorities, they are intentionally considering what they want in a job and how to get it. For some, it involves wanting a job that is less about making money and more about having purpose and a positive impact. That could mean leaving a corporate job for a non-profit role or an art-based passion.

Leaving a well-paying job is not an option for most people, but there is an alternative. Change your mindset to find a deeper purpose in your current role. That’s what I did.

I held several jobs in big corporations doing leadership development, coaching and diversity and inclusion work. Those corporations focused on sales and serving external customers. Being in a support role, those goals weren’t meaningful to me.

Instead, I found my meaning through helping my fellow employees. I realized that I could help 60,000+ employees work better and be happier at work – which allowed them to pay rent, buy food, support their families and pursue better lives and careers.

How can you shift your mindset to find your purpose in your current role?
