Good research benefits academics and practitioners.

The goal of Scienceofworking.com is to translate the valuable insights of work-related research into understandable and actionable ideas that can help real-world leaders.  In a recent blog post, “Bridging the Academic-Practice Divide”, Paul Spector, a professor at University of South Florida, reinforced the importance of connecting academic research and actionable insights.  He talks about three levels of evidence: association, prediction and interventions. Check out his blog post for more details.

This attempt to connect research with practice is an ongoing struggle and concern for Industrial Organizational Psychologists -like Paul and me – whether we are on the academic side or the practitioner side of the world.  We need more bridges to cross the divide – hopefully this site is contributing to the effort.
