You see it every day.  Someone makes an off-color joke and someone else gets offended.  The joker immediately pushes back saying that the offended party is “too sensitive” or “it was just a joke” or “we’re just having fun”.   The joker is dumping responsibility for an uncomfortable moment on others.  Often with accusation of being “too PC” – meaning politically correct. 

The offensive joker says it like political correctness is a bad thing.  Like being PC is a burden and a problem.  It isn’t.  Political correctness, at its core, is simple.  It is about treating people with kindness and respect.

Kindness and respect.  That does not sound so hard.  Let’s all try for a bit more kindness and respect.  How about it?
